Media, Communication, and Design
The Media, Communication, and Design area of study prepares students to explore how ideas are communicated through visual media, storytelling, and digital technologies. This Associate in Science degree provides a foundation in communication theory, media analysis, and creative production while helping students develop skills in writing, visual design, digital media, and content creation.
Students are encouraged to choose a concentration to guide their studies and align their coursework with their intended transfer major. Concentrations in Communication Studies, Film Studies, Graphic Design, and Media Production allow students to focus on areas such as media analysis, visual communication, storytelling, and digital production while completing appropriate prerequisites for upper-level study.
Students may also pursue the Video Production Certificate to gain hands-on experience in media creation and production. This certificate can complement degree coursework while helping students develop practical skills relevant to careers in media, communications, design, and digital content production.

Students are encouraged to choose a concentration to guide their studies and get on a pathway to transfer. A concentration is an advising structure used to help students focus their coursework within a broader degree program. Concentrations provide guidance toward a particular area of interest or intended transfer major and ensure students complete the appropriate prerequisite courses. A concentration is not a separate major or credential and will not appear on the diploma or transcript.
