Humanities and Cultures
The Humanities and Cultures area of study examines how language, ideas, and historical experiences shape individuals and societies. Through concentrations in English, History, and Philosophy and Religion, students develop strong skills in critical thinking, research, analysis, and communication while preparing to transfer to a bachelor’s degree program. Whether exploring literature and writing, studying past societies and civic movements, or examining ethics and belief systems, students build a broad liberal arts foundation that supports careers in education, law, public service, communications, and other fields that value thoughtful inquiry and effective expression.

Associate in Arts Degree
Humanities and Cultures, Associate in Arts
Students are encouraged to choose a concentration to guide their studies and get on a pathway to transfer. A concentration is an advising structure used to help students focus their coursework within a broader degree program. Concentrations provide guidance toward a particular area of interest or intended transfer major and ensure students complete the appropriate prerequisite courses. A concentration is not a separate major or credential and will not appear on the diploma or transcript.
