Accounting Concentration
Program Description
The Accounting Concentration within the Associate in Science in Business Administration is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field.
This concentration provides a strong foundation in financial and managerial accounting, business law, economics, and quantitative analysis. Students develop skills in financial reporting, cost analysis, problem-solving, and ethical decision-making while gaining an understanding of how accounting supports organizational strategy and compliance.
The program combines core business coursework with focused preparation in accounting principles, equipping students for upper-level study and long-term professional pathways in the accounting and finance industries.
Transfer Information
The Accounting concentration is structured to align with bachelor’s degree programs in accounting and related disciplines such as finance or business administration with an accounting focus.
Students are encouraged to work closely with faculty and Advising & Transfer Services to ensure coursework aligns with the requirements of their intended transfer institution. Students planning to transfer within New Jersey should explore the “Transfer Programs” feature on NJ Transfer (www.njtransfer.org) to review articulation agreements and institutional requirements.
Students interested in becoming Certified Public Accountants (CPA) should be aware that licensure requires completion of a bachelor’s degree and additional coursework beyond the associate degree.
