Urban Anthropology

Urban anthropology is the study of human beings and their cultural institutions in cities. Students will gain a sense of the general theoretical approaches as well as the research methods used in urban anthropology. Topics will include the emergence of cities in human history, their ecological foundations and their cross-cultural differences. It is highly recommended that students enrolling in this course have completed Introduction to Sociology or Cultural Anthropology.
