This course is a study of the various groups of microorganisms, their morphology, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, and importance to man and all other life forms. The course will emphasize the major microbial model systems, laboratory techniques of growth, control, research utilization, and safety. Current DNA recombinant technology, immunology and biotechnology will also be included.
